Water Treatment Package
For an end user in the Middle East, FB has supplied a water filtration package. The nutshell water filtration package will treat waste water to such quality, that water can be reused. This will reduce the consumption and disposal of production water significantly.
Due to the aggressive composition of the waste water large bore piping is provided with internal coating. Necessary requirements were included during detail design. Small bore piping is provided in Super Duplex material quality.
The control panel was connected to the unit for extensive FAT testing prior to packing and transport to overseas. The two (2) skid mounted packages, with dimensions of 18.5 x 5.6 x 9.8 m and weight of 146 ton each, have been delivered FOB Antwerp seaport.
Turning waste water into a reusable resource
In water scarce regions such as the Middle East, treating and reusing production water rather than disposing of it can meaningfully reduce a facility’s freshwater demand and its wastewater disposal footprint. By filtering the waste water to a quality suitable for reuse, this package allows the end user to recirculate water back into their process instead of relying on continuous fresh intake and ongoing disposal, supporting both operational cost savings and more sustainable water use on site.
Material selection for an aggressive water stream
The composition of the waste water on this project required careful material selection to protect the piping system over its service life. Internal coating was applied to the large bore piping to resist the aggressive nature of the stream, while small bore piping was specified in Super Duplex material, chosen for its combination of strength and resistance to corrosion. Incorporating these requirements during detail design, rather than as a later modification, allowed the piping specification to be integrated cleanly into the rest of the package from the outset.
Testing before a long transport route
Connecting the control panel to the unit for extensive Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) allowed the complete system, including its automation and control functions, to be verified before packing and transport overseas. Confirming this level of functionality in the workshop is particularly valuable for a package that has to travel a long distance to its end destination, since it reduces the risk of discovering issues only after the equipment has already left FB Group’s facilities.
Skid mounted for efficient shipping
Delivering the package as two skid mounted units, each with dimensions of 18.5 x 5.6 x 9.8 m and a weight of 146 tonnes, kept the equipment in large but manageable, pre-assembled sections for shipment. The packages were delivered FOB Antwerp seaport, a logistics arrangement that allowed the client to take responsibility for onward ocean transport from a well established European export port.
